    Fly Fishing Question

I am new to fly fishing and recently bought a 5 WT setup for a trout fishing trip I am going on. That said, I know I’ll likely need an 8 WT for redfish. So...

    1. What would be a good, mid-tier, setup (rod/reel) for coastal flats fishing?

    2. Would I be able to use that same setup for bass fishing?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I like TFO for the no fault lifetime warranty. Reels for the bigger fish I went with a Orvis Clearwater. Usually i don’t spend much on the reel. They are mainly a line holder. The reds will test your drag so i went with a better reel. 8wt is fine for bass as well as reds.

I like TFO rods as well I’ve been pretty happy with mine, I have a Lamson litespeed reel that I’d recommend too. Just make sure you rinse everything off really well if your going to be using them in saltwater.

I bought a 5WT TFO & a Lamson Remix for my trout setup. I really like it.

If we can meet up this week I’ll let you barrow my set up for a couple weeks. I’ll be on the road so won’t need it. It’s a TFO ticrx with a Cabelas RLS reel. Very affordable combo. Love the rod, reel is good but will eventually upgrade when I find exactly what I want
