The reason chargers have been staying 'more' universal is the epa stepped in about 10 years ago and said they had to stop making different chargers for every new model phone. Way too many were ending up at the landfill due to phone specific Chargers

I can find literally nothing about that when I google it. Can you send me a link?

I always have the little boxes handy but no cord... so this doesn’t help although it’s convenient and does use up an outlet

I have them in kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. Go to Amazon and buy some 5' & 10' Anker cables for bedrooms and living room so there cables don't get lost.

Only problem with that is my phone take a higher volt charger than other Android phones but it would still be good for the kids rooms.

Yup, got a couple of those around the house. They’re handy until you forget you need a USB adapter when you’re not home.
