Really stupid question about draw board

So I’m sitting here about to build a draw board. Have done tons of research but for some reason the most simple thing does not make sense to me!

Everything I have read says start your scale or tape at 1.75” at the pivot point of where the bow will be placed.

Why? And where did this number come from? What if you have a bow with side plates and another with a big ole wooden grip? Wouldn’t that place the bow closer or further away from the true numbers on the scale?

I just don’t get it for some reason......... Why 1.75”? Somebody splain this to me before I loose my ..................

Why would it not just be the pivot point even with the scale every time?

AMO draw length is the recognized standard for measuring draw length. From the pivot point of the bow + 1.750”. You are on the right track. Grip profile and riser design will impact to some extent but you will be pretty close in the end.

Oh ok. I didn’t realize there was a standard. Still seems weird. Like why not just make the throat of the grip or pivot point “zero” and then measure from there allowing all other variables to determine the length?

Guess I’m over thinking things again!!
