He tells me he will pay for the damages and make it right. He then text me asking me what my insurance deductible is and he would pay my deductible so my insurance can fix his f*!# up. Is this right? Should I go through his insurance? Will my premium go up if I go that route? I need your help GS!

Tell him that it is a firearm related accident so you feel that you need to involve the local PD before you call your insurance company, now if he wants to pay for the damages you won't feel the need to contact the police. I doubt that he will want his name involved in a firearm accident on any police record.
