    Undercounter Ice Makers

I need to buy one for my Home that’s being remodeled after flooding. I have heard a lot of horror stories about some brands being in the repair shop all the time.

Does anyone have any recommendations on the best quality machines?

    Are Scotsman or Kitchenaid good?

I have this one and have never had any issues. As long as you dont run hard water through it you should be good.

I bought all kitchenaid appliances for my house I just built. The ice maker was an 18” with a pump for around $1800. It was a good deal for what I shopped. Had plenty of good reviews and so far I love it. Good luck. The prices are considerably higher for anything similar

All of my other appliances are Kitchenaid so this would look the best for sure.

Do you know what model you have?

There is a model made by True that looks well built but man it’s expensive.

I just looked. I couldn’t see the number anywhere. I’ll see if I can find my paperwork.

                Looks good, thank you.

My wife was also wondering what the name of your granite is if you remember?

It’s a alaskan white Delacatus if I remember correctly. RMB in Forney is where I bought it. They have thousands of slabs.

As far as the ice maker. Most of the other ones started out around $2400 without a pump and I was quoted about $500 for the pump. I bought all my stuff from Texas appliance. They worked with me across the board. I spent about $16k with them so they did cut me some deals on some stuff. The ice maker was one of them. I also bought my grill for my outdoor kitchen also at the same time. He wanted the business for sure that day lol.

Hoshizaki makes a good one not cheap, but about the best luck we’ve had with what we have put in. I’d stay away from kitchenaid, whirlpool and uline to start.

It seems like the higher end homes we work on have Hoshizaki in them, followed by scotsman.

Hoshizaki is what you want. I clean mine really good once....maybe twice a year and we havent had any problems with ours.
I bought a bunch of 8lb ice bags from amazon and keep at least 6 bags in my beer fridge at all times. I hate paying for ice. Lol

I ended up going with a Hoshizaki unit because of the recommendation and positive reviews online. I got the panel ready unit so it will blend in with the other cabinets.

Will post a picture once installed. It will be a couple months until we are at that point.
