How much rebar should I expect to buy? I’m going to be doing 26’x30’ in front of my garage. 280’x4’ off side walks and 350’x12’ of drive way.. 4” thick I’ve come up with about 75-80 yards of concrete but not sure on the rebar.. my concrete guy is only going to supply forms and labor. Any cost I should expect besides sand, rebar, and concrete?

The rebar/frabic just keeps the concrete from separating if it cracks...I think
But, that is IMO only. I will defer to the concrete experts...

The welded wire is fine for the sidewalks but not for driveways and garage. I also think 4” is a bit thin for drives. I’d probably go with 5” min. As far as the rebar, you really should check with a geotechnical engineer who is familiar with the area. The soil conditions dictate more than anything what your slab detail should be.

This.
We have formed all driveways with a 2x6.
The slab should have a beam or beams.
Only use rebar number 3 in sidewalks and number 4 in drive and slab.
Do you plan to cure the concrete, are you only using redwood or do you plan to saw cut? Limestone or hard rock?

Length x width x 2 ( for both ways) x 12 (12" per ft.) x 1.075 (for 18" laps) devide by spacing (12",16", ect..) decide by 20 (length of bar)
Dead nut accurate every time!
I always allow a few bars extra for beefing up corners and intersectionsLast edited by Randy Madden; 01-07-2018, 06:54 PM.
