My kids were drawn for the Youth Only Either Sex hunt on the James Daugherty WMA near Three Rivers. Trip started out rough when my wife forgot her hunting license. That was a 1 hr reroute that included a lengthy leture on being prepared. Needless to say that went over well 
Then for soem unknown reason I got dates messed up and we showed up a day early. Better than a day late but we had cut some Christmas stuff short to leave. Now I got the lecture. 
To top everything off I was coming down with some serious crud. I had decided to have my wife sit with my 15 yr Hunter and I would sit with my 12 yr old Logan. I gave my novice hunting wife 2 instructions. Video tape the shot and mark the spot where the deer was standing. First evening Hunter and the wife managed to miss a high 130 class 10 and to boot the video was poor at best and they didn't mark the spot. I was turning excessively sicker and was now ******. I tried not to let the trip turn sour and during dinner that night assured everyone we get a good one for all the pain we were going through. The following morning Hunter knocked down this better buck. He was aged at 6.5 yrs old and roughed scored 144 2/8. Not bad considering both brows were broke and his right G4 was only 1 1/8 long. Logan and I saw a few decent buks not nothing mature. We decided to pass rather than shoot an up and comer. Hopefully some lucky youth will get a chance in the years to come at the ones we passed.
