My son Jeffrey got his first deer a few weeks ago (as reported on TBH)....
We headed back to the lease near Ft. McKavett to try and get one more deer (thanks to Double E and Kdenhead for donating a deer from their allotment
)
Josh was bowhunting for a doe and Jeffrey was after a buck or doe. We were in contact by text and radio to make sure they didn't both shoot a deer. Jeffrey got lucky because Josh's feeder was out of corn and nothing came in. We had activity early with a spike, then yearling doe, then two 8 points. I decided to let Jeffrey shoot a nice young 8 since it was his first buck and we haven't been seeing any mature bucks except for some broken up ones. I wanted him to have a deer to be proud of so I gave him the green light.
He made a perfect shot with the Ruger .270 and the buck dropped in it's tracks.

Congrats Jeffrey! Now all four of my boys have got their first deer. All have shot does and bucks. I'm very proud of them.
Now I've got to work on getting Abigail ready for next year!
