    Hole Under Feeder

I tried searching and was not able to find anything on this. What to you guys do to keep animals from creating a huge crater under your feeder over time? It seems like I have noticed some of you placing mats or wood under your feeders? Just looking to see what might be possible.

    Thanks!

Pick up a bunch of rocks and throw them in the hole

A concrete pad or just sprinkle some powder in with the soil in the off season and let rain on it take it's course?

Hog panel laid flat will keep the hogs from rooting it up

When this happened to me I moved the feeder and staked down a large cattle panel under the feeder.

Forget the concrete. Did that for years. Hogs will root under it and break it up. Hog panel cut in half and anchored down on all four corners is the trick.

I wait until the hole is full of water the. Dump 6 or 8 bags of sackrete in the hole

I always put up a form and poured concrete and just left the form in place. I don't think pouring it on the ground would do anything other than a thin shell that would be quickly broken up. doesn't need to be load bearing. 4 inches with wire will do the trick. I always buried my forms so it was not above the ground more than an inch or two.

                            Why? Just curious

It’s never been a concern for me

Ducks like water. Ducks like corn. Best of both worlds !
