Was this guy planning a Vegas-style massacre in Houston?

A man has been arrested on multiple charges after police located a small arsenal of guns on the top floor of the Hyatt Regency on Louisiana Street downtown, Houston police said.

Wasn't much of an arsenal if he was but who knows.

I've been known to have that many weapons in my hotel when traveling on a hunting trip.

Hopefully the HPD stopped a possible bad situation.

An AR-15, a shotgun, and a handgun. Were there any 3-gun competitions in the area?

We celebrated NYE there 3 yrs ago. At midnight, during the balloon drop, anybody with ill intentions, who had access to an upper level room, would have had easy access to over 500 targets crammed into a relatively small area. Scary thought, for sure.

There is a gun show a couple blocks away. Could have something to do with it.

Unless he confesses to something like that we will never know.

That’s exactly what crossed my mind and told my wife this morning

The way media portrays events makes me think that this is just something taken out of proportion. Who knows though.

One innocent explanation would be he was traveling and didn’t want to leave his guns in the car. Other than that I don’t know why you would have long guns in a high rise hotel room.

Why bring in all the ammo is the question

Glad they removed him with intoxication, multiple types of guns and a lot of ammo on hand iF that was the case but I don't understand the man was being arrested for trespassing but had a room. Shouldn't expect a more clear story to be reported though.

I wonder what they consider “lots” of ammunition

It's the media. He probally had 200 rounds. We'll never know exactly what he had or if he had been at the gun show because it doesn't fit the media's agenda

Shaking my head at the media. They keep setting new lows.

They just ran a full story on this guy and acted like LEO saved the world from a mass shooting. Clearly said AR-15 in a way to try and sound scary, LOTS of ammunition and firearms, criminal trespass blah blah blah.... Then at the very end sort of quickly like the disclaimer at the end of radio ads they said LEO determined he was no threat...My wife blurted out "So why did they just run the story?" Geez So freaking stupid how they purposely try to mislead people.

And how is it criminal trespass if he had a room for the night?
