PICs-8 days to kill a deer- out of the hospital- DocJMH

So my deer season has been non-existent but still blessed than most. I killed a doe in Oct right before I left for a month of ADT (active duty). Pic of the broad head damage to the shoulder below.

I’ve been on 16+hr night shifts with two days off since the 15th. I’ve been delivering babies at night, taking ER consults while covering our floor and ICU patients. It’s been a few weeks of getting kicked in the rear.

BUT NOW- I’ve got a week off and it’s time to hunt. Hearing back to our Water Valley ranch and will try to fill my doe tag and hunt for a trophy buck. I’ve got several up and comers that get a pass this year but there are some definite shooters. Archery goal for our part of the ranch is 140.

We usually go to this hibachi grill every New Year’s Eve but with travel home and lack of sleep we are going to stay home on the ranch. I will build a fire and stack wood today, check feeders and put up a few extra Pop ups.

Tonight is Ribeyes, gnocchi and caprese salad with beer, wine and whiskey pairings.

This week will be an exotic blessed plethora of wild game meet.

    Pics to follow all week.

    Happy New Years TBH’ers!

You can see the does humerus snapped in half from a 100gr. Magnus Stinger.

Here’s a good young deer that we are hoping to keep alive for another 1-2yrs.

Here are some pics of some of the set ups- both of these are hand corn only. Did check on two feeders with box blinds. Have 9 bow stands and working towards 12 stands before next season.

Wish I had a nice dark green live oak to put my tripods in---all my trees are bare now.
