Ranching life comes before hunting. Had to spend the morning cutting ice out of the water troughs and feeding cattle.

I’m heading out to the evening hunt, albeit late.

Because of the ranch work, I was late as I said above. I bumped two does and a small buck walking in to the blind. I’m hunting a box blind and feeder about 180yrds below my ranch house. I killed a gross 140 here last year.

I got in at 415pm. 430pm I had a doe with this years twins, another doe with a singleton and then at 450 had a 2yo 8pt. They cleaned up the corn and nothing else came in.

Cooking for backstrap marinated in honey and teriyaki, black eyed peas and a sweet potato. Already had some scotch. Will beer back it with some prohibition Budweiser!

Gotta cut ice and feed cows one last morning hopefully and will keep y’all updated. Hunting tomorrow night.

I use an axe to cut along the perimeter and then a shovel to throw out the ice chunks. And yes within an hour of breaking it had a small layer of ice over it already.
