Similar to the debates I have with the wife and kids on food that is past the "Best if Sold By" date, and is still good. I've read several accounts of canned food found cached by explorers at the South Pole that were close to 100 years old and still edible. If the food passes the eyeball, touch, and taste test, you should be good to go.

    Regards,

    Dave

We had 10 year old venison last weekend. Seemed OK to me.

You could freeze dry it and eat it 20 years later

You aren't going to get food poisoning from meat that has been been in a freezer for that long. About the only thing you could get is a bad taste in your mouth from freezer burn.

On edit...I should have read further down..
