I started a thread looking for a cabin but can't decide where to go. I'm roughly 3.5hrs from Sabine lake. I don't know squat about the coast at all. Where Togo, what is private, what is huntsble, etc etc....if someone could just give me a general idea of where to look or scout, or even a boat ramp I would be greatly appreciated!!!! We don't mind driving roughly 5hrs....I'm in Longview area. Also, not looking for your honey hole or secret spots, just a place where I could start the coastal duck hunting journey. I have a mud boat that's fairly big also....don't mind running it a long ways. Any help would be appreciated. Also, if anyone wants to tag along and help a few newbies on the coast out that would be awesome. Steak dinner is on me

We look for wadeable areas. Generally that means a sandy bottom where we are so you aren’t fighting walking in silt. Try to find a spot that you can back up to some grass or mangroves for some cover. Throw out decoys and have fun. Other than that, it’s finding where the ducks are.

If you drive a little longer to Port O Connor/Seadrift area, it's all easy hunting. Especially if you have a dog. Coastal hunting seems a lot easier than what we deal with up here in North Texas.
You can pretty much drive around and find a raft of birds close by, set up on the bank and throw some dekes out and kill birds.
If you're looking to shoot more than a limit of redheads, loaf your boat as light as you can and run back in the marshes and find where the puddlers want to be.
"Guides" will be running their airboats all morning to kick up birds for their clients so sometimes you can benefit from that as well.
If you go down that way, launch at froggys and go pretty much anywhere from there
