Bucks shedding in E. Tx early Dec.

I know this happens from time to time but this one shed way early. I believe this buck to be an old one that wouldn’t have made AR before he shed his right side. I’m sure he’s lost both by now and may get an antlerless tag come muzzle loader.

His hurt foot has everything to do with that.

Didn’t think about it but he could have gotten hit by a car.
Thats a new injury. He was very heathy all summer and fall.

Car, fence, hole. It may be broken with the curvature I see there. Normal for injured bucks to shed their antlers early. Of course, they can sometimes shed early in ETX as well.

It’s completely shed. I have day pics of him facing the camera. Those pics you can’t see his foot and i didn’t really notice it till i posted that picture.

Of all the bucks I have seen over the years shed early due to injury, only one survived that I can remember. Broken right foot similar to yours but a little more gruesome.

He seems to be fine and making his rounds.
We will see when i run cams again in a week.

He needs to go to the Low T center.

We have at least one buck west of san angelo that has shed. We had a couple this time last yr near Brady that had shed. None had visible injuries.

I had one shed three weeks ago in Llano & that's really early!
