Need ideas & suggestions from the GS!

    OK, here is the scenario:

I have 2 Rottweilers, male and female litter mates that were 5 years old this past Sept. Problem is when they are outside by themselves during the day when the wife and I are at work, they love to play, but when they do it is with their water bowls or buckets that we use to keep water for them during the day. It does not matter what I use for buckets, rubber, plastic or the galvanized kind, they will pick them up, drag them out and empty the water and then Diesel will carry them around the yard and Sophie will bark at him. This is non stop barking by Sophie and both at times and it is becoming a problem with neighbors and I do not blame them. WE are talking 2 to 3 hours of barking.

There are plenty of other toys/chew items including my Redwood Deck/Arbor in the back, but the tub and buckets are the favorite and that is what is causing the constant barking

I bought a 7 gallon galvanized tub for them and drove a galvanized pipe in the ground and drilled a hole through the top of the tub and through the pipe and hooked them together with a hitch pin. It lasted barely less than a couple hours when they figured out how to pull the tub enough to pull the pipe out of the ground and actually pulled the cotter pin out of the hitch pin so the pipe was free from the tub.

Any ideas as to how I can construct/build a system with the 7 gallon tub that I can keep water in, but where these 2 devils cannot pick up/ drag/ empty and/or play with?

I can attach to brick or a wood wall or possible even something into the cement patio. I need it to where the tub can be removed to fill with water or cleaned if needed.

These 2 have me outsmarted at the moment. And getting rid of them is not an option!

    Thanks

Get a kiddie pool at wal mart and fill it up. Gives them plenty water and is a good way for them to cool down during summer months.

          That’s what I would do.

Concrete trough as mentioned above would be first choice.

or build a 2x4 frame around the 7 gallon tub so it slips over it. They can access the water but can't drag it around

Bark collars. I have a Rottie. About 170 pounds of Rottie. There isn't much they can't drag around if they want to, other than a concrete trough....

Problem is they do not do it if we are home so bark collars will not work in this situation. Concrete trough is my thought if I can find one small enough in Lubbock. I have seen one on the net that is 20 gallons which would be perfect.

Why couldn't you get a small livestock tank and set it in the ground. Put bark collars on when you leave .

Put the lick nozzle on facet and buy two bark collars.

I dont think you have to be home for a bark collar to work. Dont you just turn it on and it does its thing if they trigger it?

170#'s is a giant. Biggest I have ever had was 142#'s of solid muscle. Diesel now is 138#'s but has the biggest head of the 3 male3s I have had.
