What part is harsh? He is lucky he gets to buy a license again in 6 years. Should never be able to buy a license.
Felony's are and should be expensive so no issue with the 18k restitution
Weekends in jail does not seem over the top.

doing the math with an average of 20 weekends per deer season gets you about 200 days in jail. Don't think that is bad at all. 40 days a year and they are all weekends, meaning you can still work and make a living. I think it is creative, gets the point but doesn't destroy the guy's life. Sure keeps him out of the field during deer season though .

And my math includes Archery season. Not sure if it is only General season, but if so take that away and its even less time in Jail. Again, the punishment fits the crime very well in my opinion.

I like it. It is all over news and social media. Friends who don't hunt are sending me links to the story. I don't think that would be the case if it wasn't for the creative sentencing.

yes childish I had a family member have a very similar conviction on a very different crime. The punishment was so unique it actually made news just like this one did. I have a right to an opinion (sounds crazy right) I would rather see the criminal do hard time.

I'd like to buy that Judge a beer. He should have to have signs on his cars and house that says " I'm a Poacher and a Loser "
