Going price for a WT European mount?

Was absolutely shocked when the preferred taxidermy ship for cinnamon creek game processing in Ft worth just called me and said the European mount would be 185 dollars plus tax without a panel. Did prices sky rocket over the years or what??? I had my elk done this year for 125 bucks. No chance I'm paying 200 for a WT.

there is a guy in Lampasas that does a great job for $50. I think that the taxidermist are playing on the popularity of the euro and the fact that it is cheaper. I have shot deer that I would have love to have shoulder mounted but can not afford 600.

I get mine done free from a buddy.....But last one I paid for was $125-150 with a nice plaque

I told the guy to take it back to cinnomen creek. Its not the extra 75 bucks for me its more the principle. Couldnt believe 185 without a plaque! Should have asked before I made my decision.

Ive done a bunch in my day but gotten to a place where my time is worth more then a 100 bucks to have someone else do it.

You can buy a burner and pot for $50 at walmart, $15 worth of peroxide at Sally's beauty, and do about 10 heads for $65 all in, plus whatever you burn in propane to get the water boiling. And you can knock one out in about 3 hours start to finish.

$75 seems like an honest price. People charging $150+ for euro's are better salesman than I am, that's for sure!

I just bury the heads, paint a bone color, do some touch up on the antlers and add a clear coat acrylic on top. They're not perfect, but for about $7 per head, I'll take it. I've got some in my garage that I did over 10 years ago, and they still look great.

Im all in for people making money but 185 didn't seem right to me. The guy was very nice and said he would return the head when he picks up the next batch next week at the processor. Its their business and they can charge whatever they want. I imagine with how much volume that processor does in DFW that they are prob making a killing and can charge whatever they want because they are getting so many customers on referrals.
