I can make some clarification on THE-TIMER.

The AA batteries are not needed to make the timer operate. They are only used to hold the memory when not connected to the main battery. A lot of users leave them out so they won't corrode when they forget to change them. The main battery powers up the timer whether you have the AA batteries in it or not.

There were some problems on some of the 2015 model timers. Resetting issues.

They were some problems on some of the 2016 models. Gaining time.

For late 2016 and 2017 models, I have seen almost no problems.

I sell over 7000 THE-TIMERS a year. I see less than a 1% return rate including the 2 problem years. I have sold other brands of timers in the past and this is the only one I want to sell now. It has the fewest problems. I do this for a living.

If you have a faulty timer that is less than 5 years old, I can warranty it for you or the manufacturer (WEST TEXAS FEEDER SUPPLY) can. Most any retailer will warrant them also. It will be warranted no questions asked as long as it did not get wet or the AA battery area corroded.

When you get a THE-TIMER warranted, you get a brand new timer. Your warranty starts over again for another 5 years.

Some of the parts in these timers go obsolete every few years. There is a change in the internal components almost every year. THE-TIMER has been produced since 2004.
      A 2004 pick-up truck ain't the same as a 2017 pick-up truck.

If you have a warranty, do not PM me. Call or email myself, the manufacturer, or a local retailer.

Great info there. Thank you Karl for posting!

Can you tell us how we know if we get a late 2016 or 2017 model in exchange if we need to do so?

I'm afraid to say it but I have one of the WGI timers also that I bought in a pinch 10-12 years ago and it is still in the feild... 0 issues EVER.... Everytime I open the box I'm always amazed that it's still working like it was on day 1. Pretty incredible actually..

I have another brand of digital timer that is 17 years old that has never been taken out of the feild either.. The brand is "BBK". That sucker has never missed a lick.. Not once.

Thank you and they are still our "GO TO" brand also..

Years of service out of any other timer is just pure luck..

                  I guess I'm especially lucky with 4 of The Timers...years 10 and 11 on 4 of them.

                  knocks on wood...

I have 5 and won't use anything else. The few times I have dealt with them, their customer service has been top notch

I bought 6 last year and almost all 6 gave me problems. I had two dump 3,000 pounds of corn and thats when I reached out to the place that sold me the feeders. They had since gone out of business so I reached out to West Texas Feeder Supply. The owner called me in response to my message and shipped me 6 replacement timers and I had them in a couple of days. It was excellent customer service. I'm running the new 6 timers now with no problems. He said they had a bad run with the manufacturer and were having much better results with the newer units.

Mine runs fast also. Usually 20-30 minutes every month. Usually by the time I head to the lease, it's ahead by 20 minutes or so. Not that big of deal, but I may look at sending it in now that I see they had a big issue and have since corrected it.

THE problem with this thread is that to many people think they are talking about THIER timer and not THE timer.

                                Just an observation... carry on.

(and yes, I hate it when feeders stop working for a various number of reasons... not all solar panels are created equal... motors... or batteries.... and yes timers too! Knowing a thing or two about electronics... I always have a small pocket multi-meter in my hunting bag.)
