    My First Bow Bacon

Tried to talk myself out of going to the ranch today. Between work and spending every night at cheerleading (yes, I’m a cheerdad) I am just beat. Decided you can’t kill anything from the couch so I packed up and headed to Eastland. Got a
GoPro Hero4 a couple years ago and never have tried to used it, so I figured what the heck. Once I got the ranch I cracked a beer, watched some Tv and figured out how to use the GoPro. Got it all sorted out and headed to a stand for an evening hunt.

Besides being a little warm it was a beautiful afternoon/evening. Haven’t really seen anything all year, and the last few times I have gone out I’ve been trying to get my 10 year old daughter on a target. Well it was just me tonight so I figured anything that opted to mosey on by me was going to get an arrow sent at it. Heard some pigs squeal around 5:00pm which got me excited. Well around 5:45 I see 6 little piggies make their way through the top part of the ranch heading down my way. They get to within 50y and stop before crossing the road that cuts two pastures in half. They make a wide circle and enter into a woods ticket out in front of me. I can hear them rustling around and just know they are working their way to the feeder about 30y in front of me. So I turn on the GoPro with the little app doohickey on my phone (which makes using that thing way easier). The hogs come out dead in front of me. Cool thing watching them and hearing them crunching on some corn. Once they all settle in I drew back and anchored and waited for someone to give me a shot. The one really big fella hangs back and stays behind all the others and the feeder, so could really get a shot at him. Finally one little girl gives me a good broadside shot, so I sent a Full Metal Jacket her way. I think I nicked her spine as it went through the opposite lung. She tried to take off but didn’t make it 19y before she started doing a little dirt dance before expiring. The Hoyt Carbon Defiant Turbo got it done. Picked it up this Spring at Cinnamon Creek.

Extremely blessed to have a nice place to hunt and thankful to my father for making the investment in some land a few years back. Sorry for the long read, just excited to connect after a couple year drought with a bow. Dedicated myself to exclusive bow hunting this year. Guns are too easy.

*if anyone has some advice on how to list a video let me know. I’ve downloaded and app to help me resize, compress the GoPro file but still can’t get it to load up. Keep getting an invalid token message.

Congrats on the bow bacon! My first was years in the making! Bow deer came relatively easy for me, but for some reason the porkers were a bit more of a challenge! I've all but given up on hunting these days, due to soccer dad syndrome, so I can relate to the time cheering must also consume.
                        Congrats again!

                          Good job!
Sorry I could not be there with you. Haven't figured out yet how to be in two places at the same time.
Hopefully we can get the little one to connect with a pig this winter.
