    Job Advice

    Hello fellow TBHers,

This spring I will be graduating from Angelo State University with a degree in Animal Science and a minor in Range Wildlife Management. While I've always been super interested in wildlife through my college career I have found a love for the nutrition aspect of animal science. I was just going to see if anybody had any advice when looking for an entry level job and how to go about getting my foot in the door. Any advice is appreciated!

    Thanks in Advance

Hey there, been in HR for 20 years...the thing I like to see on a resume is experience. You’re about to have the golden ticket...but unless you’ve got some kind of relevant experience...or some trail that shows you’re a “doer” then it could be tough. Good luck...oooh to be young and starting out again...enjoy the journey!!

Being in the wildlife field for a while now, I would suggest finding something in the animal science side of your degree. Wildlife jobs are few and far between anymore it seems. Use to, everyone was going into the breeder sector, but that to me is a dying venture. Good luck!

USA jobs is a good place to start. I have an Animal science degree as well and I don't apply it with my current career. I am working for the same company I worked for part time in college. I have applied for a couple jobs in the past with Texas Dept of Agriculture and with texas farm bureau. Good luck man, it's a chore

Also, my step dad just retired from TAMU Agrilife Extension as an extension agent. You will be required to get your Masters at some point but that's an option as well.

Get a job in the oilfield as a plant operator or with a chemical company. Companies are looking for college degree applicants.
