    Nice Problem to have

I don't want to start anything, and yes, I've already told him to hit the proshops in the area but...................... A freind of mine who has been out of archery for 12 years was just told yesterday ,by his wife, to go get him a bow and start hunting again I know there are tons of bows out there and EVERYONE is going to have an opinion but I told him to look at Mathews, Hoyt and Bowtech for bows. I shoot a Hoyt and love it but I also realize it aint the only pony in the stall. Out of those three bows I'd like to know who shoots 'em and why. What is it about this certain bow that you like over another. He's looking for a good hunting bow but aint gonna be shooting tournaments or anything so while he does want a bow that's fast he'd rather have accuracy and forgiveness. We live in Irving so give me the heads-up on proshops as well. I told him to go to Smithfields archery( that's where he use to go) but don't really know of any other. Really trying to keep him out of BPS or Cabellas (they don't carry those bows anyway). Sorry for the long write, any help will be appreciated.

I shoot an 03 BowTech Extreme VFT and want nothing new. Arrows are Fast, Flat, and hit like a truck. There is very little hand shock and an easy draw.
I know there will be many opinions, buth that is what I like. I have shot Bear, High Country, and PSE; but BowTech is where I will always go...
Shoot what you like and what you have confidence in...

This question is posed at least once a month, so I will summarize the answers for you. Everyone has an opinion and believes what they shoot is the best, but, he should shoot as many bows as possible and find which one suits him best. 09' are out so there should be some good deals on in stock 08's. The same can be said for arrows, broadheads etc. Good luck to your friend. At least he is getting back into archery.

I settled on the Hoyt because it felt the best to me. I tried several others, but liked the Trykon best. I got the XL because Sam said it would be more forgiving. Prior to getting the Trykon, I hadn't picked up a bow in probably 20 years. When I got it home, I had it sighted in and was putting "kill" shots on 3D targets in no time.

If the Matthews or the Bowtech had felt the best I would've bought it. As it was, the Hoyt just felt right for me. That's probably the best thing your friend can do ... try several and pick the one that feels the best. It doesn't have to be one of the high-dollar bows.

Tell him to at least try traditional. I used to shooot a compound, and hung it up after a few years. Then someone had me try a longbow, and suddenly archery was fun again. To each his own, but why restict him to the mechanical arrow flinging devices?

Not to say anything about anything but I have a darton that is about 8 years old that is still a great bow and I just purchased a Kodiak Titan 34 and love it. Shooting at targets its a tack driver for me out to 40 yds and can kill out to 60. I got it a sportsman warehouse and you can check them out at by googleing Kodiak Outdoors. Good luck I shot them all over a 6 week period and several of them more than once before choosing this one. Its a tough decision and he will know which one fits him when he shoots it.
