    East Texas Bruiser Down

I was finally able to put down an East Texas Bruiser on Sunday. With so much to eat this year my parents and my wife and I have not seen much, including the rare sighting of hogs that usually come in every morning and every evening... this year we have only seen 2 hogs and the rare sighting of a deer. With my dad and I hunting combined over 200 hours this has been one of the roughest years thus far not including the time my wife and mom have hunted.

We saw nothing but a few pigs during archery season and gun season has not produced much more until Thanksgiving week. My dad and I were lucky enough to put down a spike a couple weeks ago and a couple does during Thanksgiving doe days.

Sunday evening I contemplated not hunting because of the Super Moon and how hot it was... Walking in I was sweating like a stuck pig and was prepping for my wife and I to go hog hunting that night. Needless to say... We didn't get that far!

We had seen this particular deer only on one other occassion at my feeder on a night I decided to go eat tacos with my wife on a Tuesday... go figure taco Tuesday did me in!

After sitting in the stand for a couple hours this guy shows up casually walking the field. We have only killed one other deer in this area with this much mass... He may not be wide but a Trophy to me and taco meat in the freezer!

Hopefully with these few days of low temps and a good freeze my parents and wife will see more in the coming weeks!
