Swapping from 100 to 125 Grain

In my search for my preferred fixed blade broadhead I'm finding that the heads I want to try are going to be 125 grain. I have always shot 100 grain heads. For those of y'all that have shot both how much does a difference does it make in your arrow flight? If it is a major difference I will wait for the offseaon.

I won’t notice it until you get further out there. I’ve shot arrows that were 50 gr difference and didn’t have any poi difference out to 40

I have broadheads that I can change the tips out to go from 100 to 125gr and they stay pretty true 25yds in after that there will be some drop.

This. I have done some experiments along this line. I could see little difference until 30+ yards.

I guess it depends. I did the same thing, and at 20 yards didn't notice any differance. At 30 it was about 3 inches and forty was about 5 inches lower.

Mine shot about 2 inches low at 30 and dead on at 20. Bow is shooting like 278fps if that helps you any.

I started shooting 125 grain heads this summer at pigs. I don’t think I’ll ever shoot a 100 grain head again. I saw no difference in poi at 20-30 yards. Slight drop at 40. I just screwed em on and got to killing pigs.

Always go with the mass weight. The difference in POI will be negligible and the increased momentum is your friend. On the average set up it will bump the FOC +/- 1% depending on some other factors. The only reason I would advise against it would be if the arrow was grossly under spined to begin with.

But don’t ask me.....I say add as much as you can get away with.....

I shoot Muzzy 100s and was given some 125s didn't see any difference until 30 to 35 yards. Poundage of bow will make the difference in how they shoot would be my guess.

The wieght of the head is a big part of arrow spine just as the length of the shaft. Your current arrows might be fine but may not.
