    New strings question

Looking to get new strings soon and wondering others experience with after market brands-
I've always been an oem type of person when it comes to my auto parts and having worked as a mechanic on watercraft this was always my rule- performance parts were great but never as durable as oem

    Opinions?

Depends on the OEM. Some manufacturer's make great strings, some make crap; and some have better strings on the "pro" models than other models.

In any case, an aftermarket string can almost always be made either as good or better than OEM, and made to your specs out of your preferred material.

There is no reason to stick with OEM strings with the vast number of good string builders we have today.

I have had better performance and just as good durability on some aftermarket strings.
Vapor Trail strings and cables have worked well for me.

I have looked at vapor trail as well
It just seems to me that the guys Mathews would have done more r&d than any string guys out there to make there bow shoot good

The worst peep twist and string stretch I ever had was on a Mathews chill. Not saying they don’t do their homework, I’m just saying that it is crazy how bow manufactures will go through all the engineering work just to put low quality strings on their bow.

I have used pyro custom bow strings and liked them. I will probably try out bowstring depot next on the advice of a friend.

You would think that wouldn't you. But Mathews is in the bow making business, not the string making business. Ford doesn't do a lot of research on which tires makes their product get the best mileage, they just put a name brand tire on them. If the customer finds a better tire then so be it.

Vapor trail are very good strings, as are several others. I have had the best performance out of all of my Mathews bows using Stone Mountain strings and cables.

They also said that a single cam will not go out of tune and that they are as fast as a dual cam; of course, now they make dual cam bows...

The Mathews Zebra twist is a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. A properly built string with the right materials will not twist or elongate; the logic sounds good, but the truth is, there isn't a problem.
