The Comanches: Lords of the South Plains (The Civilization of the American Indian Series)
    by Ernest Wallace et al.

A scholarly book written by ethnologists in the early thirties I believe. VERY readable and full of information on the day to day life of the Comanches.

T.R. Fehrenbach's book is also great: Comanches-History of a People

And if you want to read some interesting accounts of Comanche attacks along the Brazos, read Goodbye to A River by John Graves......If you're a Texan, just read it anyway. It shouldn't be missed.
    Thanks for the suggestions!

I actually started reading it before Thanksgiving but haven't had a chance to pick it up since. To say the Comanches were barbaric was an understatement after hearing the accounts in the beginning of the book.

I am in the middle of it now. Bought it based off of recommendations from TBH.
