I found a Indian head penny from 1892, a while back and looked it up. Not worth much of anything. So I just added it to my collection. What I found, is the Indian head pennies that were made during the Civil war are worth a lot more. The production of money went way down during those years.
The silver pieces are going to be a bit more than pennies.
It's worth what someone will pay for it. I have a bunch of them and took some to a coin store here in Colorado Springs to find out the value. The guy told me to spend them...
I have some WWII era coins also, including a Reichsmark NAZI coin. I have had the lot for sale for $15 (about 10 coins) for maybe 3 months and no one has bought them.
Coins are a tough one. Takes a lot of research to find out if any are worth anything, and unless you get extremely lucky and find a really rare one, it likely doesn't offset the time you put into the search, from my experience.
I remember as a kid there was a company that sold a cylinder shaped cardboard tube of peanuts and they would put an Indian Head nickel inside.
No bull, this was back in the 50's.

I remember that. I also remember not having the money to buy the peanuts !
That one is worth about 15-25 cents as someone already said. Buffalo nickels are bad about having the dates worn off. I personally have more than I probably ought to have. Dang ebay auctions.
Here's a decent coin valuation site for future reference:
