I am surprised more of them do not get out. The larger bucks tend to stay on the east side of NASA due to the brush. Occasionally the big ones will have does penned up near the fence. The deer also come out of the brush east of NASA as well and will feed along Space Center Rd. There is a whole bunch of acerage for the deer to live in just east of NASA.

Start looking on your left just past the big blue water tank on your way to work.
That new subdivision has pushed a lot of them north towards Middlebrook, but there are still a few around...

Plus, check out the pipeline across from Armond Bayou...

This is not my pic, by the way.

Not sure if JSC still allows it, but they used to allow employees to hunt them via a draw.
I know there is on chem plant down off Bay Area that still has a draw hunt for their employees...

The property that NASA sits on was owned by Jim West who also owned the Chupadera Ranch in South Texas. Deer were roped and hog tied by the ranch hands then flown to the property NASA now sits on and released during and just after WWII. My Late FIL was the ranch foreman who was in charge of relocating the deer. They were flown in a military C-47 made available to Jim West as a military War Contractor. All sorts of south tx critters were relocated to different properties owned by Jim West during this time period.

The one I’m talking about, who looked just like the one in your pic, could always be seen in the SE corner near NASA 1 & Space Center...
