    Anyone hunted antelope in Wyoming?

A couple of buddies and I are thinking about putting in for the 2009 Wyoming antelope draw to hunt on public land. All the articles I read say that if you want to hunt in Wyoming, it will be no problem getting a tag, however, when you look at the draw odds, they're pretty low. Anyone have any insight or tips in regards to the draw or to hunting in Wyoming in general? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

All I can say is there are a bunch of them in Eastern Wyoming.

Good luck and post your pictures.

The highest antelope population in Wyoming is in Carbon County. I used to live there, so don't have any info on the non-resident tag process. But, like bulletman said, there are bunches of them to choose from.

You should have no problem gettn drawn. I've applied twice and drawn twice. Always hunt in Douglas so maybe give that a try.

We hunted just west of Gillette (whatever county that is) and there were plenty of them. Easy to draw there too. Heck, there are even nice bucks in peoples' back yards around the edges of town. It sure was nice to go out and hunt and then come back and sleep in the motel every night. You will need coveralls!

I hunted both. One rancher had 4000 acres and we rode 4 wheelers all over it chasing antelope. What a blast! We hunted mule deer a little further west on public land. You really should consider making it a combo hunt. Both years we hunted there we all took a buck antelope and a muley buck. There were four of us.

We did the same thing on the 13,000 acre Polo Ranch just west of Cheyenne.

This picture should motivate you guys some.

I took this on 14 near Keyhole state park this summer on the way to Cody from Deadwood SD.

I think I could have reached out of the truck and scratched a few behind the ears they were so tame!

Went with the father in law a few years ago. We left the house at 8 am and was back home at 9:30 am with it already cleaned and quartered. They are like cock roaches up there. They are in every direction you look. Good luck!

What does a draw tag cost up there for an out-of-stater?

I don't have any experience, but I am putting an application in the mail this week to take Blaine on this hunt near Douglas next October.
