2017 rut report....

I haven’t seen a single thread regarding rut activity across the state, so I figured I’d start one. I figure we can compile a good real time statewide report of how the rut activity is occurring.

I figure the post should include date, County and activity observed.

Hopefully enough people play along to make this thread useful.

I’ll start it out...
Nov. 2, southern Bryan County, Oklahoma...
multiple 1.5yr old 6’s dogging does at a full run. Grunting and Young’s hanging out.
Mature bucks on camera at or shortly after end of legal hunt.

Stephen County bucks showed no interest. Only seen 1 mature buck lots dinks and does. Weekends 10/27-29/17 and 11/3-5/17. It was hot last weekend 10-12
Deer per set.

Pushing does pretty hard here in Kendall county. Passed 5 mature bucks dead on the side of the road on my way to work.

Henderson County young bucks started pushing 2nd week of October. By last week mature bucks were on doe and not leaving. Last Thursday 4.5 yr old was mounting a doe. This morning I watched the same buck alone and covering some ground searching. First early cycle seems to have come and gone. Normally action picks back up 2nd and 3rd week of November.

Bucks hitting scrapes every now and then, less than weekly. Seeing busted antlers already though.

2017 rut report....

Mature bucks on the move in daylight hours in Walker County. Shot a big mature buck Saturday morning that i didn't recover and watched 5 other younger and one other mature. Didn't get a shot on any others. Found another fresh rub that was not there yesterday and the scrape i shot my deer over has been refreshed since Sunday morning.
Does disappeared for several days, feeders are vacant. I think most are locked down at the moment.

Couple bucks in action over the last 2 wks.

10/19 this 3.5 yr old was with the doe for 24hrs. Pushed her hard on many cameras throughout the property.

The last 2 pics are from this last Friday down the road from me. Nice mature 8 with a doe. Watched him for 45 minutes but had to get to work. You can see the doe just in front of the buck first pic.

I hunted mason county Saturday 11/4 and Sunday 11/5. My buddies on the lease with me stayed and hunted Sunday evening and Monday morning. I don’t know what happened because I didn’t see much going on Saturday, but of course as luck would have it after I left the bucks were chasing. I got a video from my uncle which was obvious that they are going into pre-rut. He watched a huge 8 pt mount a doe not much more than 30 yds from his stand, and that same buck got dropped off at the processor today.

Bucks pushing does early and late here in SW Rusk county, lots of fresh rubs and scrapes.

We took three mature bucks this weekend, all out looking for does.
