    Staining cement floors.

Going to have a house built in the next few months. About how much does it cost to get a 1500 sq ft house cement floors stained?

after living on bare concrete 8 weeks in a flooded house, we went with vinyl planks that look like wood with texture.
Gonna put the same in the new house we are planning. Quiet, durable, water proof and soft on my old feet and legs.

      My two cents.

I'm no help on price but have it mixed in the cement trucks, last a lot longer from what I've read.

Yup... Concrete is a little more durable than plain ole cement

I have stained concrete floor in my house except for the bedrooms. If I ever build again, I'll have stained concrete floors again. Easy to maintain with an iRobot and a mop. A few rugs and cowhides will help cut down on the echo.

As far as pricing, I think it's $2-3 sq'.

If you're having carpet put anywhere (like in a bedroom), have them spray a few different samples in that room so you can pick your color.

No help on price, but advise your framers if your plan. I was told that if they use red chalk rather than blue, it can stain the floor.

                      This for sure.

Depending on color choice integral color concrete can start to get pretty pricey. Also a lot harder and more expensive to get "samples" and the concrete company is going to have an additional price to clean out the drum of each trucl. It will probably be much easier to use a stain and test colors at areas that will get covered up such as under cabinets or any area you might add a little carpet like a closet. Another way to sample colors is to pour an extra 4x4 pad outside while you pour your foundation (so the same mix is used) that you can test colors on and then break and throw away once you decide.

we stained our own concrete. 3100 ft cost us a little less than $1900. we didn't do a perfect job, but we get plenty of compliments on our floors. that being said, it is a ton of work to do it yourself. a lot of cleaning, and very time consuming.

Also make sure your foundation crew isnt applying any kind of spray on curing compound that will leave a film that could interfere with the stain.
