Can this fox be saved for a mount?

So this fox was pissing on my corn this evening so he got whacked. Went in back and out his throat with a 2” cut broadhead. I always wanted a fox mount. Can this guy be saved or is he too tore up? Would you mount him? Recommendations on a taxi?? Thanks guys.

It will take one heck of a vet to save him.

My dad once mounted a fox that was killed when it got kicked by a horse in the barn the fox snuck into. Fox was missing hair on its side in an area a little larger than a horse hoof. Positioned so a big tuft of broomweed covered the damage. A good taxi can be creative with the scenery if the hole(s) can be sewn. But I bet those can be sewn.

Bet that fox didn’t go far

I think you will be good! I have an axis hide tanned with two, 2 inch + cuts from my broadhead and you cant even tell unless you turn it leather side up

One time a man brought me a pretty nice sized grey Fox for a full body mount walking down a driftwood piece. Easy enough right?

Well when he got to the shop the Fox was in two different bags..... he hit it with a 204 broadside and blew the exit wound side completely off (neck, shoulder all the way down to the hip. I fleshed and tanned both pieces haha then thinned the edges more than the rest and sewed him right back up and mounted him. Couldn’t tell unless you rubbed it real hard, then you could feel the stitch line.

Just depends on the patience and skill of the taxi, most of those that look like they ate high explosives still have the majority of the pieces there, just gotta be found and put back where they belong.

I figured it could be saved. Just wanted to check with you guys. And he literally did a flip and died 2 yards from where he got shot. That broadhead pretty much hollowed him out. So any recommendations on a good taxi in north Texas? I’m wanting him standing with his two from feet som a piece of driftwood. Or open to suggestions.

Maybe something similar to this mount.
