Rut on

Went out to check cameras one last time before next weekend. Arrived at 1:00 p.m. and jumped on ATV and headed out. About 1:30 p.m. doe ran across the ranch road, followed by a nice 8. He never looked at me, although I was only 25-yards away. Whenever the doe zigged or zagged, the buck followed her every step.

Out of 10 bucks I saw Saturday, only 1 was "following" a doe. By following, I mean he was lazily walking behind her by about 50 yards. All the other 5 doe I saw were solo and not anything with them. I had a fork horn come in and the big 6 that I shot at about 30 yards behind him. Then, I had 3 young bucks come in to my stand together, one right after the other about 10 yards apart. Very strange for this time of year.

The next 2 weeks are going to be interesting, exciting, and frustrating all at the same time.

As of last week, I still have younger bucks grouped up in batches of 3-4 bucks.

Coryell County we have about 2/5 bucks sitting. The others still grouped

Saw a big buck chasing a doe across the parking lot of the New Braunfels Civic Center yesterday but all the does I've seen at the lease in Atascosa Co have been solo.
