I like Judo points because they slow down and flip when they hit the ground on a miss, easier to find. My $.02

This is what I did as a kid, with an old Bear recurve. Put many a squirrel and bunny in the stewpot.

I discovered Judo points in the late 80’s , had one in my quiver ever since. Coon, squirrels, small pig, coyote.

I prefer the judo point, plus they are cheaper than those g5 heads. Old broadheads work good also

Does the change in weight effect the flight?

Not at close range. I shoot them with a 50# recurve.

I used to use blunts, or blunts, with empty 38 special cases glued on the blunts, to make the blunt larger diameter. They worked. Probably not the greatest idea, but they worked. Back then, there were blunts, judo points, then those metal things with the 8 small dull blades, that put between a field tip or a blunt and the arrow. I used those, with blunts, if I was not using the blunts, with the 38 cases glued on them. The blunts, with the 38 cases on them, seemed to hit the hardest. Always got a nice loud wack, when they hit.

Those G5 points, look like a good idea. I always wanted to try some bird points, but never did.

Now that I have a lathe, I may work on making a small game point.

Ordered some judo points, but made a couple thumpers till they get here. ¼" washer was too big, it slid over the field points and arrow shaft.

Is this what you're talking about?

I probably got more involved in it than I had to, but I weighed the tip before I started grinding. My 100 grain field points weigh 6.48 grams. The washers weigh 2 grams. I ground 2 grams off the points. I took em out and shot my bag target (don't do that, lol). When it hit, it sounded almost like a gunshot. It bounced off, but made a hole the size of the washer. I'm in the stand now, almost hoping to get a shot on a squirrel more than a deer.

I wait for them to get on the ground and get after my hand corn. What is that other tip in your first pic?

we combined field points and washers, then ground the points off the field point until the combo weighed the same as original field point.... we then use these to thump the javelina to get them out of our corn when hunting.... hit one in the side of the head and the bark/squeal they let out will cause you to giggle like you read a dirty joke while sitting in church.
