    Is intelligence limited??

    I was bored today.....

Of course everyone is different, but is there a limit to how smart a person can get? If so, what sets that limit?

Don't know, but i have met some people who apparently know how to do everything, but are broke individuals. Seems to me if they know everything they would be rich!? Just saying

I guess every single person would have a different answer for that.

Let's say you meet someone and after a short conversation you are convinced this person is an "idiot". Is that person an idiot by choice or is that the best it will ever get for them?

This is completely uneducated, but I don’t think your actual brain limits your intelligence. I think it’s more so a persons will to learn, genetics, and upbringing that limits their intelligence. Let me tell you, I have met some really dumb people. Like, really dumb as in I’m really not sure how they’ve made it this far in life and I’m not being funny. And I’m not talking about ignorance here. You can be ignorant without being dumb. I’m talking about dumb as in they just have zero capabilities of reasoning and/or figuring something out.

I feel like everyone, regardless of age, sex or upbringing can contribute something new that I never would have considered learning. I think intelligence is limited by the precious lack of time we have, and what we choose to do with that time.

I think everyone has a different capacity for knowledge but as for growth/improvement...the mind is malleable in both directions. Everyone can learn more with adequate time and a desire to learn. That said, without a desire and a plan to learn, the brain has the ability to go through atrophy like a muscle (not in a physical sense).

So, to answer your initial question everyone has a different ceiling but for most people that ceiling is self-imposed.

the smartest people do not know everything...but to be truly smart you must be aware of the things you do not know....public forums suffer from lack of this skill

I don't believe a formal education has any thing to do with how smart you are. All the smartest people I know have no formal education. It seems they just have the ability to absorb and retain knowledge and skills when they are presented with them.

                            Wisdom vs intelligence

"The difference between Intelligence and wisdom in a nutshell are as follows: Intelligence refers to one’s ability to acquire and apply knowledge; on the other hand, Wisdom is defined as the accumulation of knowledge that grants a person the ability to assess what is true, right, lasting, and important."

Intelligence is limited, once the mind reaches maturity it is at full capacity and what you were born with is what you have. Wisdom however is unlimited.
