Anybody of used the flex seal in a roll on application on the bottom (exterior) of an aluminum boat hull?

Looking for first hand accounts and info. Thanks!!!

I fixed some leaks with spray on flex seal in my boat and it has held up very well for about a year so far. Make sure the aluminum is very clean before you apply the flex seal. I also painted over it after it had dried really good.

Haven't used it before but if you decide you want to fix it properly, shoot CEdwards28 a PM. I doubt he would charge you much of anything either outside of maybe some beer.

many years ago I riped my aluminum tracker hull on Fairfield and used duct tape and silicone to repair it and surprisingly it lasted several fishin trips. finally got it welded

In the same boat. I’ve got a riveted alumicraft and there is no way to get to the rivets from inside the boat. Flex seal might be my next step. I didn’t know you could paint over flex seal?

I saw first hand (on tv)a guy saw a boat in half and fix it with flex seal.

Weld around the rivets on the bottom.

I'd just weld it and be done with it. If you can get it to Sherman I could help you out.

To redo the bottom of a boat would be a very expensive project. A spray can of that stuff is around $ 9,and it doesn't cover much....I would think it would take 30 or 40 cans to do the whole hull of a boat....and it would add quite a bit of weight also...like they say....gotta be a better way....

1 gallon is around $90 and “covers” 150sqft... I don’t think I would need more than 2 gallons...this is much cheaper than rhino lining or something lined professional right?

Weld around the rivets and put one or two coats of gator glide and be done for the rest of the life of the boat.

If it's not a crack and it's just a leaky seam or rivets, I've used plain old silicone seal on an old Lone Star aluminum boat, and it's held up well. Just have to repeat application after a couple of years.
That flex seal probably isn't any better than plain old silicone sealer but more expensive.
Rhino liner would be better in my opinion, but would be expensive and also add a lot of weight.

Right I was gonna say, isn't that the main use for it? OP didn't watch the commercial first?
