This will be my last mechanics post as after I fix this I’m driving the darn thing to the dealership to trade it in. Details
2006 Doege 2500 5.9 Cummins. Took my truck in a few months ago for injector work and new starter... I pick the truck up and everything seems fine for a day or so. Few days pass and I notice my battery gauge is running a little low and the truck was throwing a crank sensor code..... I let that slide for a few days and my battery issue was getting worse. Ended up blowing the caps off my passenger side battery and boiling over. No big deal I figured I had a bad battery so I replaced them both.... passenger side boiled over within 15 minutes. After that I assumed it was my alternator over charging it so I had that tested and it passed all 3 times. In an effort to throw a part at it and hope for a fix I changed the alternator anyways and still didn’t fix the issue. I’ve cleaned all the terminals and made sure they are tight. I’m really lost and completely confused. Could there be a relationship between the bad crank sensor and the battery boiling over? Could the mechanic have wired something wrong on the starter causing this to happen?
