I don’t put much stock in wind speed. I’ve killed some great deer in high winds. I think the pipeline was the wrong call with the wind though: My bottom stand would have been better but wind direction was wrong.

I just know in my experiences. They don’t seem to like being out in the open in high winds. You’re right. A tree in the thicket would have been your best bet if the wind was permitting
