    Record Rack

Currently I am feeding apple flavor corn and sweet feed. I am wanting to put some protein feed out. Thinking about Record Rack. What's everyone's thoughts about Record Rack?

A long read, but excellent information.

I feed L&E because of the high TDN%, but this time of year mix in some RR Golden Nuggets in my protein feeder as well as my spin feeder because the deer seem to really love them and the apple smell is very strong. I see this is both having an attraction benefit as well as a cover scent.

My thoughts are why would you want to put out protein supplements now? Or are you talking about next growing season?

To lure more deer in. The neighboring lands use it as well. I thought it will help lure them in.

Our deer seem to love the protein, so we keep it in the self feeders 365.

After antlers go hard-horned, we dilute it with corn 50/50 though and begin back 100% protein in February.

I agree....once a deer gets a taste for protein, why stop a good thing...as well as the benefits of the year round added nutritional source....especially during the winter.

I thought about just putting it on the ground in small piles around the deer feeder.

You will have giant racoons if you do that!

I use the RR protein and Nuggets from September until March. Then just RR protein until September. I don't use corn at all.

Would work if they are already used to (addicted to) eating it, but to start out that way will probably create a lot of waste and coon feed. Moisture is rough on protein pellets as well.

If you want something that throws good out of your corn feeder or that you can cast on the ground, get the mix of corn and roasted soybeans. 15% protein on average and the deer love the soybeans. Not the vitamin content of protein pellets, but a boost of pure protein. Just another option.....

This is mostly what we feed and the deer hammer it. I try to feed it year round if the budget allows for it but if not I at least keep it in the timed protein feeder.

It's probably just as good as any other brand as long as your deer eat it.

Just beware they might go feed at night and not when your feeder goes off if you feed during deer season. We cut them off a few weeks ago and start right back up at the end of January.

I do this and ya the coons hogs and other critters have a field day but it does help keep them around and gives them a taste if they haven't ate it before. It helps my hunting and it is better IMO than feeding from the self feeder during hunting season.

I’ve heard of this being an issue but out west it’s not. I have a huge feed pen with the protein feeder and spin feeder inside. When the spin feeder goes off, they come running and eat from both sources. Think it’s the Pavlovian effect actually.
