Taking Direct TV to the ranch

Is anyone using the Genie 2 and able to use just the regular HD box at the ranch, RV or second home? I had DTV at my primary home and at my home in Rockport for 2 years. After Harvey the DTV has not worked in rockport. We have since moved our primary residence and the new installer told me to get the Genie 2 and keep the HD box for my other location and it would work?? I'm skeptical.. any input??

I've been trying this for a couple of years and cant seem to get it figured out.... Never can get it to line up right or something.

I have done it with Dish and it works fine.
