    Goats

Been lots of work but getting closer to finishing my goat pens and sheds

For the ones that have goats what do you use for the floor?

    rock, gravel, dirt over rock?

I will need to build it up some to keep it dry when it rains.

Read a lot on line just wanted to see what the Greenopedia said.

Are you planning on leaving the goats in there all the time?

I might have gone overboard.. But will have 3 separate pens for goats. Each will have it's water supply and shed... The main one has some woods inside the pen for shade etc. But yes goats will be in there full time.

I would just do a dirt floor. If they are show goats I would put sand down

I just started my herd or show goats. They have a barn with sand floors. But that's only because my property is really sandy. They biggest concern is that they aren't forced to stand in wet conditions for extended periods of time. That can create problems.

Down to 3 and would be out of goat business if it wasn't for my daughter

                    Good luck

We had dairy goats for years, we loved 'em. But, we no longer have them, all the neighborhood kids have grown up and moved away and we have no one to care for them when we go on vacation or hunting trips.

Sand is good, even gravel or river rock if you need the drainage, with a large topping of straw. If your ground is good and sloped, or drains well, you can just top it with straw. My girls liked it 6-8 inches deep, and we changed it once a year.

Ever notice when you put the word "Show" in front of something, it pretty much renders it useless for what it was intended..?

I have about 30 goats and we put pallets down on the ground and filled them in with pine shavings (pet bedding at TSC). They pack down and before long it's like the ground again only elevated
