    Slow deer hunting

Anybody else been having a slower season. I hunt in Sonora and shot two deer this weekend, but deer count is a lot lower than last year and we killed 5 deer on 900 acres last year and all of our 'nice' bucks are not coming to our setups. We haven't shot a gun in 2 months and won't shoot one till February. Do yall have any tips on places to setup away from feeders. We have a few extra pop ups and tripods around camp, if that helps. Anything helps I am worried about this season.

Yes. Acorns fell early at our place this year and it seems to be slowing them down hitting feeders. I've been trying to hunt the oak trees when I can but we have 900,000 of them so it's been impossible.

Lots of acorns and hot. Been really tough, I don’t think we are going to harvest all our doe’s before the rut.

It's definitely slow right now. I think things will pick back up once we get a couple of good freezes.

Haven't been to our place since March but IMO mature deer on wet years don't show up at feeders till around Thanksgiving and it get's better in Dec. Hopefully headed down there this weekend so for my sake I'm good with me being wrong too!

My place has been incredibly slow but it's due to all the flooding we have had over the last year including the second worst flood ever from Harvey. Normally I would see 3-10 bucks a sit on trails with 1-4 mature bucks per sit. This year, I'm lucky if I see a deer. In 9 sits I've seen about 12 deer. I still have about 200 acres flooded of the 600 acre lease. The good news is I keep seeing more bucks coming back each week but the bad news is the best time to hunt has basically past because our rut is at the tail end now.
