    Digging them up by hand and foam paintbrushes?
    Wow... I mowed and bagged one time one year and knocked out about 80% of them. Second year cleared them out.
    Not sure why the resistance to mowing and bagging, but in my case it was a lot easier than hand digging and I'm not one to dump a bunch of chemicals on my lawn where my dogs hang out all the time.

      I don’t have mower with bagger. I’m sure it would make a difference, but I’m mowing 5 acres.

      I talked to Ag Chemical rep today and he gave me similar info to Dusty above. Also Neil Sperry talked about it in his weekly email this week.

        Dig them out with a straight-clawed claw hammer.

          If you do use a chemical make sure to apply at the right time. I'd have to look at my notes but I believe the best control is achieved when application occurs a few days after soil temps reach 70-72 degrees which is when the burs begin to germinate.
