Jeff you’ll need to back up the phone to iCloud first.
One thing to watch for, when you are setting up the new phone and you are going through the setup screens, there is one that asks if you want to set up two factor authentication. DO NOT DO THIS unless you can keep your passwords and codes somewhere other than the phone. It is much more secure, so much that if you try the wrong code a certain amount of times it will lock you out of the phone completely.
My wife did that and it took 2 months for them to crack into her phone and reset it.
It does what it’s supposed to do for those that are trying to blame Apple for them forgetting the password, it did exactly what is was supposed to do. Not their fault the user forgot their password.

Go to apple or Verizon. They have a machine that will directly swap everything over to your new phone. I believe AT&T does it for free for their customers...Comment
