    Porcupine in my tree

This past Friday morning I was sitting in my ladder stand and just as it started getting light I saw a critter walking under my feeder. Figured it was a coon grabbing some breakfast. As I watched him more I saw it wasnt a coon, but it was a porcupine. He was just out on a morning stroll and I watched him walk toward my set up and he walked right under the base of my ladder, then went behind me and I lost sight of him. I thought it was pretty cool to see a porcupine. Then about 2 minutes later I hear a little noise behind me up in the tree. I slowly turn around and homeboy porcupine is climbing my tree. He climbed up right behind me and went out on a limb and fell asleep. Pretty wild stuff.

Awesome. Had two large Opossums in the middle of the night climb up my tree stand behind me and then fight it out on the next branch over. Not sure if they ever knew I was there. I wonder if that guy knew you were there or not or just didn't care, that's probably been his tree much longer than yours

that's awesome. I've never seen one climb a tree. I almost stepped on one once. Was stepping over what I thought was a cactus and it moved. Talk about taking a quick LARGE step the other way. I was walking in by moon light so really couldn't see what I was stepping over.

They're everywhere here. Well....where there's actually trees they're everywhere. I occasionally see them out on wheat fields away from any trees too so I don't know. They get up on a stock tank my buddy has and take a dump in the water all the time. It's like a public bathroom for porcupines. I'm sure they're drinking out of it too....which is disgusting.

Had that stand hung there for 5-6 years now and he hasnt ever visited before while I was in it. He knew I was there, I stood up once or twice to stretch and he didnt seem to care at all. We just hung out and enjoyed the morning.

I would like to shoot one with my bow they make great looking mounts. They can be heck with working dogs, them quills can be tough to get out of a very disgruntled dog.
