    Caldwell Deadshot Field pod ????

Do any of you use the deadshot field pod? How steady are they? Here is my issue. My 8 year old loves hunting and is a great shot as long as he has a good rest and can get his elbow against something to steady his shot. (Obviously I'm talking about a rifle here) In most deer stands his arms are too short for him to get his elbow against the side of stand, or arm of chair like I do. This weekend we were at a friends lease and he missed a pig Saturday evening due to not being able to get steady. This morning we improvised some and I was able to get him steady and he hammered 2 does. Made perfect shots on both. While our little temporary improvisations worked I'm looking for something a little better. So for those that have used the deadshot are they pretty stable even if you can't get your elbow against something to steady yourself? Could you use it in a box blind? Do you think this would be a good solution to our situation?

Here is a picture of him with one of his does from this morning.

Yes sir - I’ve got one for my son who is 7 and started him on the x bow. It’s perfect! Think I bought via eBay...

They are absolutely a must for kids IMO. Yes they are very stable without needing to use elbow or other bracing. Works perfect in box blinds. When me and kids get settled in we get it all set up and just let the rifle sit on the field pod until go time. Best money spent.

They're great for kids, just take up a lot of space in the blind.

I have both the "Magnum" and standard models... I use them a LOT when shooting my air rifles out to 100 yards... close to shooting off sandbags... In a pop up or box blind, they're perfect for kids or grownups especially if you know where the shot will be taken... You'll like using it too! If you have multiple windows, might want to consider a bipod (at least for your hunting )

My daughter JUST turned 6 and had shot 2 turkey and 5 hogs off one. Plus my nephew shot his first hog. Worth every penny

I have the Max and Magnum... Other than the Magnum is heavier and more of a pain to carry into the field, I prefer it. It's very stable. The Max is very lightweight and easily transportable with a simple strap. If you don't plan to carry it around a lot (like if you can drive close to where you will be hunting) I'd recommend the Magnum.
