    Rage Question

This thread is not intended to be a good or bad thread so please don’t go there.

I’ve been shooting Hypodermics the last few years and I’m starting to get a decent amount of them that have been used on animals. To me it seems like they are good for one animal and that’s it. What does everyone do once they use them on an animal? Try to salvage/sharpen, replace blades or just chunk them and put a new one on?

If they still look good after the kill I just reuse it but put it in the last rotation (meaning I carry 4 arrows and it would be the last one I shoot) If the blades are bent I replace the blades. kind of a pain but I like to do stuff like that.

Usually, yes, the blades will bend enough that I don't trust them to function properly for another humane kill. In 10 years of shooting Rage, I've never had a ferrule bend so, I simply change the blades and forge ahead. I've killed 3 or 4 deer with the same head that I know of. Lost count after that.

If the blades don’t bend and still sharp I’ll rotate the collar and stick it back in the quiver, if they bend, I’ll save the ferrules and just replace the blades

Replace the blades no matter how they feel. I always have fresh blades on my hunting arrows.

I replace/sharpen blades as needed and then they go into the last arrow rotation in my quiver as well.

I've resharpened used blades and replaced used/bent blades. After doing this, I have no qualms about putting them on the 1st arrow in my quiver.

I use them for pigs if they still work after shooting and deer with them.

Replace bent blades or resparpen. They cost too much to throw away after one shot.

Anybody have a link to a video on how to properly use collars on hypodermics? I think I've got it right but want to be sure. Literature on the subject would be great as well.

That’s why I just bought the Chinese ones. 125 grain and 2.3” cut. Lots of good reviews on them. $19 shipped for 12 of them.

Do they use the same replacement blades as a Rage? If so, please share where you get those. I have the hardest time finding 125 grn hypo’s.

OP, sorry, I wasn’t trying to highjack your thread.

I always replace the blades on heads I’m going to shoot a deer with. I’ll shoot a hog with a used head if the blades are in good shape.

I retire each arrow combo after it’s done it’s job of harvesting an animal.
