after you apply the adhesive you should leave it in maybe around 10 minutes, but not shoot the arrow for maybe 20.
a tip is when your going to fletch the shaft get a cotton ball and rub alcohol where you are going to glue the vanes on, this will help the glue, glue better, therefore you fletching will stay on better
What kind of fletcher did you get? Also what kind of adhesive? It depends on what kind of stuff you got. The adhesive I use I only let it stand for a few minutes and then rotate the arrow.
There are these new things that are shrink wrapped onto your arrow that require no glueing or anything! They're blazer fletchings as well. Only problem is theyre about 25/half dozen so kind of expensive. all you have to do is boil some water and dip the wrapping and arrow into it so that it heats up and shrinks to the shaft

Congrats on your gifts I am also just begining to do my own. I got some tips from my favorite Archery shop down in Georgetown, Double G. Paul told me that to make sure they are cleaned with at least 91% alcohol, rough the arrow with some emory cloth, then glue it. Best thing is to use Bohning Adhesive with Bohning vanes, etc... If not, be sure to wife the fletching with some of the alcohol as well. The adhesive should have a setting time on it to let you know how long. With wraps there is really no prep, it just glues to the wraps. I have not had any problems with any of mine and I'm using wraps as well. Some people put a bead of adhesive at the end of the wraps but I have now. Its pretty addictive. My wife is going to get into making strings and were gonna try to get our daughters in to the sling making ood luck and Merry Christmas!!!

And it kinda takes the fun out of it It helps me practice my patience
One more thing I haven’t read yet, after you’ve fletched all your arrows put just a little drop right on the front of the vanes. This has helped me a lot… and don’t use to much glue.
If you really want to do it quick, Bass pro sells a glue and glue accellerator (sp). You spray the shaft with the accellerator where the vane will be then clamp the glued vane on. The accellerator makes the glue dry in a second or two. Used this all the time but now use the shrink fletch- lot easier.
I use plain Loctite super glue gel. If I spray crest them I let them sit over night before I fletch them. If I don't crest them I wipe them down with 90% alcohol and let dry.
