    Need to get bloody

I have been in process of getting here to Texas for 2 years. I moved here last November from Ga. My 2016 season consisted of a 5 day hunt in Kansas, shot no deer. So this year with new job and house etc, had little time to secure a place to hunt or scout much on public so I hope to shoot a deer before Jan 15th. Last year was the first year in 34 years I didn't shoot a deer. I hear guys say they aren't that mad at them anymore and don't care about getting deer anymore. I can't relate to that as I have less days in front of me than behind me and I'm plenty mad at them. We eat it weekly year-round, so not shooting any is a problem for me. I never realized what deer hunting meant to me until it was basically taken away. We are all lucky just to get to do it.

    welcome to TX.
yes it is a treasure many don't realize until it is gone.
A cheap way to get going is to check out the Corp of engineer lakes around the metromess. there are hunting opportunities there and it beats sitting on the couch. of course there are a number of sponsors on here that have some good private land hunts if you want to get a 3 or 4 day hunt going.
