    Cows last supper

Got tired of the cows eating the corn that's meany for the deer at my hunting spot so I built a 12 panel feeder pen. Its 58 feet in diameter. I think the cows their free lunch was about to end because when I got to my stand to build start building the pen they were no where around then within minutes of the first panel doing up a bunch of them came in and huddled around the feeders to start eating. About time I had half the panels up they had inhaled every piece of corn on the ground then walked off. They walked off not with their usual swagger but in slower than normal motion and they would randomly stop and look back, I guess to see if I was really closing the pen. Then they turned and walked away. Now the real question is how long is gonna take the deer to venture over the panels to get what has been rightfully theirs for so long.

If they know what's in there then they will jump right in. Took mine a month however it was a new feeder setup and new panels. Another feeder they had been hitting we put panels up. They were in it within a day.

Those black and brown devils. I bought myself a nice slingshot for the next time they commit such an infraction in my presence. It would bring me great pleasure to hear the thwack of that rubber and the thump of a nice sized rock as it stings the backside of those basssterds. KAC.

They were there to get a detailed view of your construction so they'd know just how would be the best way to walk your new panels down and continue the gravy train. Only thing worse than cows would be horses or goats though.

I thought maybe you shot them!

I put a strand of barb wire right along the top of the panel. I wire it to the top along the edge of the panel.
            No cows since then.

I wouldn't worry to much about the deer. My back feeder below the house is now the target of 11 40ish pound pigs, so I built a trap much like what you did, but not as big. The only opening is a 3x3 door. I have a spike, a 3 point, and a doe that walk right thru the door and eat......... they are in there more than the pigs. I know it is not trophy deer, but they figured it out pretty quick. I just hope once I set it that the deer don't trip it.

Why do you have two corn feeders?

I've seen a game camera video of a cow jumping right over the pen to get to the corn.

One only pins in the morning and other spins at night. I bought a stand and fill last year for my other spot so I doubled up til I can get money together for another 600lb stand and fill

Slingshot and 5/16" nuts from the bulk hardware aisle at TSC works for me--cows and donkeys.
